About Dr. Squires

Katie Squires, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, BCS-CL, started her career as an elementary school teacher.

Seeing a need, Dr. Squires went back to school and earned a master's degree in speech-language pathology and a doctoral degree focusing in child language and literacy.

Currently, Dr. Squires is a professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Central Michigan University, where she specializes in child language and literacy, specifically in the area of dyslexia.

She authors peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, serves as an academic journal editor, and speaks at state and national conferences.

Dr. Squires is licensed and certified speech-language pathologist and is a board certified specialist in child language.

In her spare time, Dr. Squires enjoys walking with her doberdoodle Lucy (who just became a therapy dog with Therapy Dog International), taking cruises, crafting, and spending time with her husband and two adult children.
